Dear Friends,

We are pleased to inform you that St. Hilda’s by the Sea Anglican Church of Canada, celebrating our 70th year as a parish, unanimously endorsed the Earth Charter, at our annual general meeting (Vestry).

  • By our endorsement, we categorically state that we are, indeed, part of the global family and that we acknowledge our responsibilities to our planet and to each other.  We state to all that would hear that we are for building a just, sustainable, peaceful global society.

  • By our endorsement, we affirm that the values of connectedness, inclusiveness, and community, which we truly cherish at St. Hilda’s by the Sea, are also preeminent, in this initiative and should be widely encouraged.

  • By our endorsement, we recognize the Earth Charter as a hopeful vision of the future.

  • By our endorsement, we seek to initiate further thought and discussion, in our diocese and Canadian Church, which will encourage other congregations to endorse the Charter.

We will seek to apply the Earth Charter principles in our programs, policies and other activities.

Kind regards,

Reverend Mark Lemon
Bill Stacy, People’s Warden
Bonnie Paetkau, Rector’s Warden
