Church Committee is asking all parishioners and friends of St. Hilda's to attend a Special Congregation Meeting in the Parish Hall on Monday, December 18 from 11 am - 12:30 pm in order to study a number of options regarding how to move forward with the remediation of the sanctuary. This meeting will be facilitated by Tasha Carrothers, Missioner for Congregational Development. Archdeacon Stephen Muir will also be in attendance as our partner from the Diocese. Please note that this is not a decision-binding Special Vestry Meeting which requires 2 weeks notice according to diocesan canons (church constitution). We intend to give parishioners time to consider and digest the information and to meet again in the first or second week of January to make a decision at a Special Vestry Meeting.

Church Committee met earlier on Monday and narrowed a wide range of options down to 3 categories:
1. To rebuild based on cost estimate;
2. To rebuild the sanctuary AND to redevelop the rest of the property with partners;
3. To redevelop the whole property with partners.
The details of each category would be open to explanation.

For parishioners who missed the important building update given during the two morning services on December 10th, the Building Committee received a cost estimate of $881,325 from Spani Development last week following their thorough exploratory work on the structural support of our sanctuary with the engineer. The cost estimates are based on standard trades rates and supply costs at their full rate before possible discounts and donated services from trades and suppliers. The estimate is significantly larger than the $125K - 250K which the parish was expecting based on preliminary exploration. In light of this, St. Hilda's needs to come to a decision as to how the parish would move forward.

Peace and love,
