A public talk and a retreat with Dr. Monica Weis SJJ
Speaker and facilitator Monica Weis is a Sister of St. Joseph of Rochester and emerita professor of English at Nazareth College in Rochester, New York. A long-time member of the International Thomas Merton Society and former Vice President of ITMS. Dr. Weis is a frequent presenter at national and international conferences. Her recent books include Thomas Merton’s Gethsemani: Landscapes of Paradise, The Environmental Vision of Thomas Merton , and Thomas Merton and the Celts.

The retreat is a day of exploration and reflection on how geography shapes our attitudes / prayer; how Merton’s prayer was transformed by nature; how his fascination with Celtic spirituality and his own mystical poetry have relevance for our spiritual journey today.
