“Whatsoever you do to others, you do to Me”. Jesus tells us over and over again to be mindful of the needs of others, and to reach out to those in need.
Outreach takes many forms – it is as simple as helping a disabled person across the street, and as difficult as digging deep into our wallets to support local and overseas projects.
Our ACW raises money in various ways – bake sales, funeral receptions, etc. and these funds are disbursed once a year to local projects such as Arrowhead, the Salvation Army, Linwood House Ministries, and further afield this year, the Stephen Lewis Foundation supporting Grandmothers raising many orphaned grandchildren in Africa.
Financially we support diocesan initiatives such as the Coming Home Society, helping young Aboriginal women complete their recovery from substance abuse, the 127 Society, providing affordable housing, and the Street Outreach Initiative for people living on the Downtown East Side.
Some of our financial support also goes to funding critical overseas relief efforts through the Anglican Church of Canada.
We are constantly looking for new opportunities for outreach,
both locally, nationally and internationally as an expression of
our passion for social and environmental justice. One of
those opportunities is for St. Hilda's to become involved
with the Millennium Development Goals
