 The Widening Circle

The Widening Circle is an emerging movement within the Anglican Church of Canada to affirm and reclaim the traditions of the Anglican branch of the Christian faith.  We believe that historic Anglicanism is both orthodox and inclusive; celebrating the diversity of backgrounds and views within the unity of the one, holy, catholic, and apostolic church.

At our initial conference in London, Ontario, we undertook to join together to take a stand against making the doctrine and discipline of our national church subservient to the Primates of the Anglican Communion through a proposed Anglican Covenant; and to resist a narrow and exclusive version of Anglicanism, expressed in our own country as resistance to the full inclusion of gays and lesbians in the life of the church.

We have now released a draft statement of principles, and have begun organising a second conference, to be held in 2008.

The website for The Widening Circle can be found here:  http://wideningcircle.wordpress.com/
