Our home, the Earth is under more stress than ever, as our neighbour over the border slashes environmental protections and funding for climate research, boosts fossil fuel production, and withdraws support for clean energy.  The Green Parish Action Group urges everyone to stand up for the Earth by taking at least one action to show our commitment to creation and to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.  Then on Sunday April 27 we will share what we did.

Possible actions include:

  • educating yourself by reading a book, newsletter or article about the environment
  • creating a poem (or reading one by someone else), taking a photo and sharing it, or writing a story
  • advocating by writing to our elected representatives, volunteering for or donating to an environmental cause, attending a meeting, or discussing Earth Day with a friend
  • taking spiritual action by including the Earth in your prayers, or taking a meditative walk
  • taking practical action by planting a native or drought resistant plant, weeding invasive plants, eating less meat, picking up trash off the beach, walking more and driving less
