Syiyaya (friends and family)Reconciliation Movement   In response to the Truth & Reconciliation Commission’s Calls to Action, to honour the students and survivors of the St Augustine Residential School of Sechelt and in the spirit of sk’ák’ts’ítáwílh (people working together), the Syiyaya Reconciliation Movement launched its fundraising campaign on Wednesday April 25 at the shíshálh Longhouse.  The purpose of this project is to provide an opportunity for the community of both First Nations and non-Indigenous community members to come together to create both a Reconciliation Totem Pole and woven Reconciliation Blankets.  The intention is to create opportunities for educating, sharing and building relationships toward better mutual respect, understanding and reconciliation.
